Abraham Maslow and Self-Actualization

by Dr. Bobbie Stevens on November 23, 2009

Many years ago Abraham Maslow discovered that there were a few people that functioned in a totally different way than the rest of us.  He studied these people and found that they were the healthiest people in our society, they were also the happiest.  Most of them were highly accomplished.  Maslow said these people were self-actualized.  They seemed to have abilities that others did not have.  He said they were highly creative and highly intuitive.  He also found that they had discovered how to fulfill all of their needs right within themselves.

I found Maslow’s works when I was in college, and decided that if some people could function from this more advanced level of functioning then it had to be a human potential, and there must be a way to develop this potential within ourselves.  I left college with the idea that someday I would discover how to develop this more advanced way of functioning.

And fortunately I did.  Many years later I put together a routine of things that I started doing on a daily basis and my whole understanding of life and way of functioning changed.  I realized that I had discovered a process for releasing stress and strengthening and refining the entire mind/body system, which automatically moves one into self-actualization.

I experimented with my new discovery and way of functioning and became aware that I could create whatever I wanted. So, I created a business, a new townhouse and my ideal mate.

My friends knew something wonderful had happened for me and wanted to have that kind of experience, so I created a course, using the same things that I was doing when this transformation happened for me.  I invited a group of friends to do this course, and it worked for them also.  That is how Unlimited Futures came to be.

More recently, I have become aware that self-actualization is the results of discovering and developing our right brain abilities.  These abilities, like creativity, intuition, the ability to see the big picture, and understand laws of nature, are a potential within all of us that lie dormant unless we consciously develop them.

This right brain development, simply moves one into the realization of the abilities that Abraham Maslow found in the self-actualized people he studied.

If you want to discover how to develop your abilities, I recommend that you start by reading my book Unlimited Futures: How to Understand the Life You Have and Create the Life You Want. Then check out the other things that we provide to help you discover how to create your own unlimited future.
