The Importance of Choices

by Dr. Bobbie Stevens on April 26, 2010

It is so important to understand that we are all making choices all the time, even when we chose not to choose we have still made a choice. It is our choices that determine our experiences.  The choices we are making today will show up in our experiences in the future.

Unless we are willing to take full responsibility for ourselves and the choices we make, we have no control over our lives.  We have been given all the power to create our experiences through our choices, but if we believe that outside forces are responsible for our choices we give away all the power we have.

Sometimes making the right choice or even knowing how to choose is very difficult, but it is vitally important to understand that you are in charge of your own life if you chose to think for yourself.  If you chose not to take charge, you will experience the consequences of that choice, and simply be blown about by life like a leaf in the wind.

It is very easy to see how people have been programmed to believe things that are not true or in their best interest.  Things that they know, on some level, are not true, but they have decided not to think for themselves or act on their own inner knowledge.

Last night I saw a movie about the holocaust, which so clearly showed the dangers of allowing oneself to be brain washed or influenced by someone else’s need for you to think or believe certain things.

We are all connected to universal intelligence, and deep within each of us is the knowledge that we need to understand anything that we need to know.  However, many times we are not strong enough to access that knowledge.

Here at Unlimited Futures we have discovered a process that allows anyone, who is willing to work with the process, to release the stress that gets built up in our nervous systems.  This stress blocks our ability to know who we are and the power we all have deep within ourselves to take charge of our lives and create the kind of life we want for ourselves.

In my book Unlimited Futures: How to Understand the Life You Have and Create the Life You Want, I give you step-by-step guidelines for discovering the importance of choices, and your own inner ability to make the right choices for yourself.

Hi Kavita,
This is a complex question that can’t be answered in a few words. I would suggest that you get my book from Amazon if you can. If not go to our web site at and request a free introductory session of of our Core Course. This should be helpful.

Hi kavita,

Thanks for your question. First good and bad are labels we give things relating to our beliefs. There really isn’t any good or bad there is just choices between different things. And you don’t have to make a choice one way or another. It is a choice so you get to chose. You may think you have to chose one thing or another because of the consequences you believe will be the results of your choice. The best way to think about choices is just to ask what works? what gives you the desired results and chose accordingly.

Hi Kavita,

The word choice means there are options. You do not have to make any particular choice. Every choice has a consequence and sometimes you feel like you have to choose a certain thing, but you are a free agent and can choose whatever you think is best. We must do that and take full responsibility for the consequences of our choices.

How important is it for people to have choices?

Dr. Bobbie Stevens March 28, 2017 at 4:19 pm

Hi Clayton,

We all have choices and we are all making choices all the time. Even when we refuse to choose we are making a choice. Read the information on choices in my book Unlimited Futures: How to Understand the Life You Have and Create the Life You Want. Thanks for your question.
