Self Improvement and Patience

by Dr. Bobbie Stevens on December 20, 2010

In many cases one of the things we want to improve on is our patience.  Yet, we must have patience for self improvement.  It is like which comes first the chicken or the egg.

In the fast paced world we live in, we begin to expect everything to work very quickly.  Unfortunately, it takes time to improve our selves.  It has taken many years to get us to where we are now, and it will take some time to create the improvements we want to see in ourselves and our lives.

Many people start working with a self improvement program and if they cannot see dramatic results immediately they stop working with it and look for something else or give up entirely and go back to business as usual, simply ignoring the things that were important enough to get them to look for some improvement in their lives.

It is amazing how easy it is to fall back into old patterns and keep doing the same thing expecting a different result, even though I believe this is considered insanity.

I see people start working with the Unlimited Futures process and get great results.  They begin fulfilling their dreams, and then they forget what made it possible for them to create the things they wanted, and fall back into over exerting themselves and creating more and more stress in their lives.  I did this once myself, so I can certainly understand how this happens.  Trust me; it is not a good choice.

It is important to understand that nature gives us opportunities and if we take them and make the necessary changes in our lives we continue to grow and create better and better lives for ourselves.  If these opportunities do not get our attention, then nature gives us a slight crises to deal with to get our attention and the crises keep getting bigger and bigger until it gets our attention.  This is not something mysterious it is just the consequence of the choices we make.

I saw a friend doing this and tried to help by pointing out what I saw happening to her.  She has participated in several Unlimited Futures courses, and has created what she wanted to create, but has not worked with the process long enough to understand how it works.  She doesn’t know that she can take charge of her life rather than simply react to the demands of the day. I will explain how to do this in more detail in my blog next week.

Improving ourselves and our lives requires patience, persistence, commitment and time.  We all read about some great discovery that takes care of all our concerns immediately, but have you ever experienced this actually happening?  I haven’t.

The Unlimited Futures process, when practiced on a daily basis over time, improves every aspect of your life.  It releases the stress that gets built up in our nervous systems from overstressing ourselves over and over again for years.  This stress affects your health, your perception, your relationships and your ability to create a good life for yourself.

I have described this process in detail and provided diagrams and step-by-step guidelines in my book on Self Improvement. I have also created a CD, DVD and a Companion workbook to help you get started working with the process.

Once you begin to experience this growth process you will want to get our Core Course which is now on DVDs so you can experience it in the comfort of your own home no matter where you live.  You may download an introductory session of the Core Course absolutely free, so be sure to do so before leaving the site.

We also provide in residence courses that you can attend to accelerate this natural evolutionary process.
