Life Beyond Opulence

by Dr. Bobbie Stevens on June 6, 2011

What is opulence?  What are we striving for in life?  Have we ignored what life is all about to pursue wealth?  When we get wealthy, then what?  How will be feel?  Will we enjoy our lives more, be happy or just exhausted and disappointed?  Does having material things make us happy?  Are we here to just be consumers?

I once saw a bumper sticker that read “He who dies with the most toys wins”.  Do you believe that life would be wonderful if you just had enough money?  It seems to me that many people are looking in the wrong direction for the things we want most, like peace of mind, happiness and fulfillment.

We are all looking for the “good life”, but what is the good life?  We were on vacation once in the Bahamas and encountered a couple living on a huge yacht docked there.  They had their bar well stocked and they sat out in the sun all day, just waiting for evening when people would come over to party with them.  Their skin looked like leather and their eyes were very dull.  But they were obviously very wealthy.  They had it made.  Is that the “good life”?

There is certainly nothing wrong with having money, but there has to be a bigger reason for living than just making money.  Is it time to stop and ask what life is really all about?  What is the good life and just in case you could have it all what would you like your life to be like?

How would you be living on a daily basis?  Would you be doing, achieving, fulfilling, becoming, inspiring, transcending, creating, accomplishing and enjoying your life?  This could be your life just by refusing to follow the crowd and making some different choices for yourself.  This sounds like a much better life to me than continuing to struggle to have the things that we are told will make us happy.

Could it be that if we all made choices to create our own path, rather than just follow the rut that has been formed for us in world consciousness, that we could live a much better life and create a much better world for all of us to live in?  Could it be that we have been programmed to believe things that are simply not true about what the good life is all about?

Years ago I realized that my life had become too stressful, and I made a choice to make some changes.  In the process of searching for a new way of life, I discovered a process for releasing stress which healed and strengthened my entire mind/body system, and my whole life changed.  I discovered that by choosing to focus my attention on creating optimal health for myself instead of optimal wealth, I had actually become capable of creating whatever I wanted in my life.  I discovered that life doesn’t work the way we have been programmed to believe it does.  There is indeed a better way.

I was so excited about this discovery that I knew I had to share it with everyone who was ready to make changes and discover the great possibilities that exist for all of us.  That is when I founded Unlimited Futures, an organization that provides programs for the development of human potential.  Thousands of people have participated in our programs over the years and created much better lives for themselves, as well as making a much great contribution to the world around them.

If you are ready to make some different choices in your life and live a life beyond opulence, then you will want to start by reading my book entitled Unlimited Futures: How to Understand the Life You Have and Create the Life You Want.

I have also created a CD, DVD and a Companion Workbook to help you get started.  In addition we now have our Personal Growth and Development Core Course on DVDs so you can experience this life changing course in the comfort of your own home.  You may download a free introduction to this course by simply clicking in the box on the side of this page requesting it.

Once you start experiencing this growth process, we also provide courses that you can attend to accelerate this natural evolutionary process.
