The Role of Discipline in Personal Growth

by Dr. Bobbie Stevens on November 2, 2009

Most of us have heard that it is possible for us to become a master of life.  What would it mean to be the master of your life?  Is it possible to be able to actually create the experiences you want to have in your life?  What would it be like to be able to create optimal health for yourself, inner peace and joy, a fulfilling and well paying career, financial abundance and the kind of relationships you want in your life?

This is all possible and I give you a map for your personal growth journey to becoming a master of life in my book Unlimited Futures: How to Understand the Life You Have and Create the Life You Want.  However, it is you who must take that journey if you want to discover how to create the life you want for yourself.

This brings us to the role of discipline in personal growth.  Self discipline is the key to becoming successful in any area of life.  If you want to be an outstanding musician, artist, athlete, investor or any other endeavor, practice and self discipline are essential.  Why then should it be a surprise that self-discipline is necessary for becoming a master of life?

Our life is simply a reflection of our level of personal growth.  Just the word growth means change, and that means getting out of one’s comfort zone, doing things that we have not done before.  I believe that insanity has been described as doing the same things that you have been doing in the past and expecting a different result.

Until we become capable of doing the things necessary for our personal growth, our life will remain the same as what we have experienced in the past.

In my book Unlimited Futures: How to Understand the Life You Have and Create the Life You Want, I provide step-by-step guidelines for taking charge of your life and creating it the way you want it to be.  All you need to do is provide the self-discipline necessary to follow the map.
