There was an article in our local paper last week on Stress Management, which was about how much faster things are moving today than they did in the past. His conclusion was that with all the new devices we now have to make our lives easier it just causes things to move faster and create more stress. The conclusion was that the stress is overwhelming and that we no longer have time to manage the stress.
This being the case, it seems to me that we need to ask where all the stress is coming from and what we might be able to do about it. In looking at the stress that I have struggled with in the past, it seems to me that I actually created most of it through my own beliefs and expectations. I usually had decided that certain things had to be done in a certain time frame and by trying to live up to my own expectations I created a great deal of stress for myself.
In time I discovered that all I had to do to change that experience was to change my mind. I needed to change my beliefs and look at the situation from a different perspective. Fortunately, I have been able to understand that beliefs are only information that we have accepted as truth. We actually create our beliefs and expectations consequently we can change them. It is quite enlightening to become aware of the power we have within ourselves to change our experiences by changing our minds.
