PLAYING THE GAME OF LIFE
By Bobbie Stevens, Ph.D.
What we usually experience, in playing any game, is that it can be really enjoyable, or very disappointing. The game of life is no exception. Whether we experience joy or disappointment usually depends on how well we play the game, right? If we are winning it is fun, but if things are not going the way we want, it can be very disappointing.
To start playing any game the first thing we need to know are the rules, or how it works. For example, if we wanted to play golf, we would not just get a golf club and a ball and go to the golf course, would we? No, anyone who has ever played golf knows there is much to know about how to play golf. Before starting to play golf, we need lessons or instructions on how the game is played. Most of us have learned it also requires practice over time, to play very well, and really be enjoyable.
We discover the same thing if we play cards, chess or even checkers, we must understand the rules or how it works.
Do you know the rules for playing the game of life? Are you enjoying it, or has life been disappointing? We all get to play, but how well do we know the rules or how it works?
We have been told how it works, but what we are discovering now is we have been given incorrect rules and information. We have been trying it for centuries, but it has never been really fun and enjoyable for most.
What we have experienced, when we believed what we were told, is what Buddha called the human condition of suffering – very disappointing.
What we have created playing by the old rules is the chaotic world we are living in today. But the exciting thing is we have now discovered some new rules for playing the game of life.
The new science has now proven that the old information and beliefs were incorrect and has provided us with new rules of the game and a new understanding of how it works. Do you know the new rules? Do you understand how it works? To play the game of life very well, could you use some more information and training?
One of our biggest challenges now, is letting go of what we think we know. This old misinformation has been ingrained in our psyche all our lives. Even though it has been proven to be untrue, letting it go is a major challenge.
I was given this knowledge years ago before the scientists had discovered it through their research. I was young at the time, but even so, it has been a lifetime challenge to live what I knew to be true when I saw the opposite going on around me. This is a challenge we all must face, to enjoy the game of life. We have tried the old way and know that it only produces disappointment.
Many people who have participated in our Unlimited Futures programs can assure you the new rules work. The new abilities we are now discovering brings us into a new way of life, knowledge, and experience.
The game I would like to suggest for today, is to sit quietly for about 15 or 20 minutes, then ask yourself what life is all about, and how does it work?
Then ask yourself if it is time for you to start discovering all the new possibilities that playing the game of life by these new rules can provide for you?
